Transformers Bot Shots Bumblebee FigureSo it's come to this, another Bumblebee. I like this toy mold a lot, which is a good thing as the figure has been announced in no fewer than 5 flavors so far. Those who come to Bot Shots late are in a position of great advantage, as they will be able to see which gift sets and singles make the most sense to buy with the least amount of duplication. Thankfully, clear Bumblebee is only sold as a single so far, and as such you can pretty easily decide if you want him or not. Like other clear single "Super Bot" toys, he ships once, in one wave, and is retired from the line. (Barring any stragglers, of course.)

Packaged in robot mode, transformation is spring-loaded as always. Hit the bumper, and you've got a car. If ever there was a better toy for a kid, I've not seen it.

Transformers Bot Shots Bumblebee FigureWhile I'm not a fiend for clear toys in the same way as some of my pals are, I can say that Hasbro picked a good color for this one. Sure, it looks a little bit like a frozen urine sample, but the way the light dances off the details makes it look more like a sort of an X-Ray. Certain details pop out, and the face is painted to ensure he has some personality. It's still a largely unpainted toy, but the rolling wheels are still black and as always, there are no accessories.

You will get your money's worth with this figure at $4 or $5. More than that, unless you're some sort of hardcore fan from the future, and I would suggest you might be overpaying just slightly. Possibly because of my growing affinity for the transparent Outer Space Men figures, but I like this guy-- and at $4 I don't feel like a chump for re-buying the same mold again, just to get it in clear. Pick it up if you see it at the right price, but don't go crazy doing it.

Troubleshooting Note: There are two screws on each figure's chest. If you tighten these, the trigger is a little jumpier. If you loosen it, it weakens it a bit. Depending on how well the figures do (or don't) spring up, you may want to keep a screwdriver around to adjust them to your liking.
