Onell Design Glyos OSM Colossus Rex Tyraxsis Action FigureCrossovers are far and few between in this line - cosmically speaking, anyway - as it has been nearly eight months since the last one. OSM Colossus Rex Tyraxsis must have been in the works for a long time, as I remember Matt Doughty of Onell Design talking about doing a special version back in 2011 - years before the figure even saw production for the first time - and I had no idea what he had planned for the mold. According to his notes, the Tyraxsis is a dinosaur-inspired colorway, and I see it - it looks like it would fit nearly any terrible lizard toy.

Colossus Rex figures have been sold in white, glow, clear green, and two different fully-painted green "Infinity" editions - and that's it. The figure didn't get nearly the quantity of recolors of some other figures, with this being only the first fully-painted real departure from the classic toy's colors. It's hefty and weird, and you probably get your $25 worth of this 5-inch tall action figure.

Cast in a rich orange, the figure has been given lighter orange highlights and clear green accessories. As with before, Colossus Rex has 14 points of articulation and can be popped apart at each one of them. You can swap out his fists for open hands if you like, and if you pop the head and shoulder off you can remove the armor if you like. Customization is important with these guys, and you can even swap body parts in from other figures. It would look weird, but you can do it.

The figure is top-heavy, so be sure to find his center of gravity before placing him on a shelf. He still might tilt forward - be sure to use his axe as a third leg to prop him up. The axe and mace fit in the fists, while the shield can clamp on to the forearm. Glyos figures rarely have any sort of form fit issues, and these guys fit together nicely. The figure even has a Glyos peg hole in the middle of his back, but it seems to serve no specific purpose. Maybe there was an accessory at one point, but no specific-to-the-character backpack has been developed as of yet.

The deco is pretty similar to previous paint masks. The figure has paint more or less where the other Infinity versions did, but the armor was different - this time around it closely matches 1.0. You'll see painted spikes and rivets, which 2.0 did not have. I should also point out that 1.0 and 2.0 were white plastic figures coated in green paint - Onell Design molded their figure in orange, skipping the extra steps and eliminating some of the costs. Also this probably means the figure will age a little more gracefully, but at a cost of that beautiful metallic scale shine.

Oddly this one didn't sell out immediately - was the run bigger? Was it the price? Do people just not love awesome things anymore? If you can find a more impressive action figure, buy it. I think this is one of the very finest The Outer Space Men releases, and it's one of the best Onell Design crossovers to be sure. As I write this I don't know what is next for these guys, but I sure hope Onell Design can squeeze out another couple of these off-model colorways between now and when it becomes unprofitable to do so.
