Despite what the name may conjure up in your head, the OMFG Mimic Armorvor isn't in that oh-so-fleshy color but rather a unique shade of blue that was used for the very first (and subsequent) Onell Design exclusive OMFG mini-figures. It's similar to early Pheyden plastic hues, and comes to you completely unpainted - accurately mimicking the deco of some OMFG figures, hence the name.
Much like the Crayboth Eaglet, this particular Armorvor manages to do something different than expected for the mold - Buildstationey, unpainted Armorvor figures have been lacking in the line. We've had a clear colorless one, a clear red one, and up until now that's been about it. It's not like an unpainted figure is necessarily something one should.shtmlire to produce, but they do allow us to see different things in a figure sculpt without the distraction of additional colors. I'm sure it's also very cheap to make.
While we've seen OMFG "Flesh" figures from Spy Monkey Creations and Rocket North, Onell Design hasn't cranked out many as of yet - it seems that might be the next logical step as it would be pretty dang cool to have near the other figures. The big blue Armorvor goes well with his siblings, plus has the added benefit of looking sort of like a fake prototype. Remember the huge dumping of blue resin prototypes on the market in the late 1990s? It's sort of like that - as a toy collector I can draw all sorts of conclusions and connections that weren't intended, and this is the one I've elected to pick for now. As an added bonus, it makes a great home for the various heads produced by TheGodBeast.
It ain't bad. I haven't played around with it much, but as these figures go it's certainly not short on charm. Seeing an unpainted, opaque wolf fur head sculpt is a little jarring but I like the end result quite a bit. I'd love to see more heads molded in color for future releases, and I'm pretty happy I got this one. I'm not tired of this mold yet, but I'm definitely at a point where I think I could be really happy if a new head or two entered the mix on an upcoming release. WIth its backpack and all of his swappable parts, it's just as fun to play around with as the other figures - and there are many other figures.
