Hasbro Transformers Botcon Sky-Bite Action FigureThe greatest shark around Sky-Bite is a character from the Robots in Disguise series which has now been shoehorned into G2/G2/Wings of Honor, depending on how you want to look at things. The character, which is quite popular with a segment of the fandom, was originally a repaint of Transmetals II Cybershark, and this particular release was a repaint of Energon Sharkticon. Poor guy, can't even get his own mold! This time he does get a new head sculpt.

If you have the original Sharkticon mold, you know that the "vehicle" mode is a shark-like revision of the Nemesis, a Decepticon battle cruiser. In vehicle or robot mode, Sky-Bite can be transformed to expose his twin rocket launchers which do work pretty well. In robot mode, most of the vehicle exists as a backpack to the robot with a few elements like his tail turning directly into hands. The rest is kibble, but it's a fairly fun and speedy transformation. You'll have fun with it.

Hasbro Transformers Botcon Sky-Bite Action FigureAs a remake of a deluxe-class toy, you might be wondering why on Earth you'd want to shell out a premium for a toy which might still be at Big Lots for $8 but in a different color scheme. (If you're really a hardcore collector, you don't need to ask this.) The toy's lower run and ornate paint job help contribute to the cost and you'll no doubt notice tons of additional details on the toy. Several brightly colored lights or windows cover the vehicle, there's a unique asymmetrical deco on the toy's chest to mimic the uneven look of the original 2000 toy, plus there's the fact that it was made as a collector's toy with the intent to sell it at a higher price. It'd probably be $15 or so at retail, but since it'll never make it to retail, your love of the character is what makes it warrant the asking price. Given how few Predacon poets are in your toy collection, you might as well pick this one up.

The low edition size of 1,400 sets ensures that the figure is a pretty low-run item. Low runs don't always mean they're worth a lot, though-- at press time it looks like the going rate for this 6-inch robot is about $45 on eBay, or as part of the set at below the issue price. (This is, of course, depressing.)
