A fascinating thing about the Transformers toy line is that if a character is cool enough in the comic book, the toy will sell. For a lot. For Dark of the Moon, Hasbro reached into its past and brought back the Sparkabot Guzzle into the toy line after a hugely popular turn in the Last Stand of the Wreckers comic book series. Obviously, this is not a G1-style blocky toy, but is it close enough?
The coloring and personality of this small robot are similar to the comic appearances, but it's obviously a toy made with the movie aesthetic. The tank is a tank is a tank, but the robot does a good job matching the colors and proportions of his appearance in the recent IDW comic stories. With articulated knees, feet, and a few spots on each arm, he's not a terrible toy, but he's not a proper "classic" toy in his proportions or styling. The claw hands do a good job holding a gun, but they don't fit in as well with your shelf of 2006-present "Classic" toys.
The cardback pegs him as a fuel hog, which, well, OK. Whatever. There's no mention of "The Wreckers" on the packaging, but the team name doesn't get a whole lot of attention on regular retail Hasbro products.
The tank is as good as you might hope for, with a nod to his Japanese designation on the rear of the tank, barely-rolling wheels, and a couple of guns which can pop on the non-turning turret. There's not a lot of action in vehicle mode, but it is a nice tank and a welcome break from the cars and trucks which populate the bulk of Cyberverse so far. As a toy, I didn't have much fun with it and I assume it will be popularity largely due to the legendary status of the comic character. It's certainly close enough, but I can't help but feel I'd almost have preferred to keep the nine bucks. It's OK but it's just a pain in the neck enough where I can't say I love it. Since it started showing up more in the past few weeks, odds are you can find one.
