It looks like we're not going to have anything beyond the second series of Tarantula Planet, so be sure to give the likes of Side Kick a little extra love. The line is being clearanced out at a number of stores-- if they still have it-- and it's totally worth your while to see it. This one doesn't have any snap-on gear, but he does have giant socks with green stripes, and isn't that what you want in your arachnid toys?
So yeah, there's your soccer motif. The mostly-deco figure has a new soccer ball, plus the light-up red eyes really match the red plastic nicely. A green painted "8" matches the sock paint, and well, this is a pretty slick design. If you like soccer and tarantulas, because that's where sports and animals usually intersect.
There's no articulation to speak of, and I would suggest getting it mostly as a gift or for yourself if you're into the ridiculous. This is pretty goofy, and sadly too few toy companies are willing to take risks with something truly off-the-wall like these guys. While I can't say it's as inspired as the pirate or the cyborg, it's just so dang goofy I would never suggest skipping it. For $5 or so, it's well worth it. For $10ish... you probably are going to want to like the design. I'm guessing it won't be super-rare down the road but who knows? Nobody's buying these guys now so they might be tough to get down the road.
