I feel I am destined to lose the switch pin included with the Enigma Fusion Pheyaos Enigma Fusion. It's a tiny part and I have no real use for it - it's just there. Why Onell Design included this bonus piece with an amazing figure is beyond me - I can't do much with it here, and it doesn't make the already great figure even better. Onell Design wrote in to say that they were specifically included for some of their remarkable contained builds - mutant marvels with significantly more parts to make a big, nasty beast.
Designed with input from Onell Design and RealxHead, Pheyaos is a familiar face with all-new construction. It looks sort of like an existing sofubi figure, but also fits in with the general look and feel of the Onell Design Glyos Traveler action figures. It's a little bulkier than Pheyden, Sarvos, and their ilk, but it retains similar articulation with more detail and deco at a slightly higher price point.
By the time you read this I assume there will be many releases of this figure in various colors, in addition to customs and other wonderful variations to enjoy. I'm a little surprised they didn't sell these as "blanks" in the primer grey color, but it's not like you couldn't paint over it if you were so inclined. The figure sold out in a reasonable amount of time, as it should. The weird skin condition looks like it'd be a blast to paint, and the Onell crew painted dark purple bits on nearly every piece. A little pink on the eyes and chest also help.
The reversible head is increasingly an Onell Design staple, giving you two alternate looks for the figure right out of the bag. The two-eyed default head and the one-eyed monster face both resemble previous sofubi releases. Onell Design went a step further to add lines to the eyes, a nod to the glass-eye look on the vinyl figures. The black outline around each eye helps make it pop. I assume panel lines would significantly add to the cost of the figure, so limited deco is certainly welcome where it can be squeezed in.
I couldn't decide between the pink and this painted take on the Pheyaos, so I picked up both. I assume I'll buy a glow in the dark one and one or two others as they come, or if they come up with a crazy new paint job. There aren't a heck of a lot of obvious tribute colorways for a mold like this, so I assume the limits will be the creativity of those who run production on this figure. That could keep us busy for a while, so keep checking back in case there's one that grabs you.
