Another one! Thankfully ToyFinity has kept the big Mordle releases tight, so figures like this Mordles Quinhozs Vinyl Figure aren't part of an endless, tiresome parade of expensive vinyl - instead, we've had 3 so far and it seems like each one is pretty cool for different reasons. The line kicked off with red, switched off to glow in the dark, and now we're going for a Jaws-inspired grey figure with cold, black eyes of death and a little white patch on his chin/belly/whatever it is. I'm quite fond of the design, the original red figure has remained on my desk since I got him.
Due to the lower edition sizes of this kind of toy, odds are it's new to most of you - it sold out quickly, and with good cause. The black glossy eyes really shine in person, and the grey plastic actually brings out the detail better than the red or glow versions of the figure. At 4-inches tall, this figure is articulated at each foot - assembly is required, and popping in this kind of Glyos vinyl joint can be a pain in the neck some times. Once assembled, I feel no urge to try to pop the feet back out - I'm sure it's doable, but I don't want to mess with it again. I'm just going to be happy I have a cool shark Mordle now.
As Glyos-compatible vinl goes, this is probably the finest design you can buy from any of the various companies making this stuff. It doesn't do much - the feet swivel and that's it - but it really does look and feel like some weird 1980s figure that you missed out on. The Glyos compatibility is nice and all, but when you get right down to it this is is a wonderful little collectible with a run that was too low. (According to the shop, most of them were sold before non-club members had a crack at it. This is why you join the club.)
From where I sit, usually a glow-in-the-dark release means I don't necessarily need more of the mold. With the big Mordle I might keep going anyway - the design is charming and the price is right, I could see a bunch of these populating my office. The Imbalance of Blood figure has sat on my desk since it arrived in November, which to me is the strongest vote of confidence I can give a toy - precious few others have stayed on my desk for long periods of time. When you get a chance, get a big Mordle.
