Onell Design Glyos Alphaden Action FigureThe 2017 (and so far, 2018) Onell Design Mystery figures have been thematically based on Adventure People Space figures of old. Alphaden was decorated to vaguely match the pilots of the Alpha Probe vehicle, complete with variant hair coloring.

The white plastic figure has stunning golden painted hands and feet, plus a matching collar. The face is painted like most late 1970s/early 1980s human faces, and there's a cool "Selego" tampo on the shoulder.

The golden gloves look great, and are striking in that we haven't seen a lot of the original Alpha Probe figures pictured without their vintage golden paint molting. (Thank goodness for catalog shots and box art.) It's bright and cheery, and I look forward to seeing if it lasts for the ages. So far Onell Design's white plastic has stayed white, as has its clear colorless parts and pieces. His silver chest art is a great replication of the Alpha Probe figure's chest buttons, and the face is a flesh color with those old-style eyes. It's really great - the only thing it's missing is some sort of new helmet piece. The yellow (or black) dome is also a lovely variation piece to have, just so you can sort of, kind of pretend it's a human. A human with no mouth and a dome head. Look, we use our imaginations here.

Articulation of this 2 3/4-inch action figure is typical Glyos fare with each joint being removable. 12 meaningful points of articulation await you, and the figure can stand or sit with the best of them thanks to clear joints and huge feet. The figure is also sized about right to play with Playmobil or Imaginext toys.

I think I've got all of the Adventure People Mystery figures so far except Commayder. I really dig 'em - figures based on action figures are a lovely and strange sub-collection that works nicely, especially as I'm trying to streamline what I buy these days. I hope to see more of these - and I'd also be incredibly thrilled to see The Outer Space Men released in Adventure People colors some day. Also Battle Beasts colors. (C'mon, like you totally wouldn't lose your mind to get the octopus or cuttlefish colors on Astro-Nautilus or Cthulhu-Nautilus.) Grab this one - either version - if it crosses your path at a fair price.
