Here it is - the last figure of the last big year of Masters of the Universe Classics. We were originally told that 2016 would feature a new line look, but as of my writing this I ain't seen it yet. He-Ro II was a decent note to go out on, as the character of Dare could have been at the center of a Son of He-Man cartoon (and toy line) a couple of decades ago. He looks a lot like his old man with some Teela-inspired hair choices, his pop's face, and a lot of new armor bits.
If you've not keen on the "concept".shtmlect of this line, well, you're probably not going to love this. The quality is on the upper level of what this line can do, with more or less standard articulation that makes use of numerous existing parts. The head, holster, armor, and hands seem to be new while the pants, boots, and body are things you've seen before. The holster is new and nifty, adding some mild sci-fi flair to the swords-and-sorcery hero.
I was hoping they'd give him the better bend-and-swivel wrist, but no, it's just normal swivel articulation. On the bright side he has actual gloved hands - you can see seams, and there are no fingernails painted over to pretend there are gloves. They did a nice job integrating an "H" New Adventures symbol on the wrists and the He-Man cross on the back of each hand. It's a little busy, sure, but you can see Dare incorporates elements of numerous He-Man costumes quite handily.
The armor is pretty much a recolor of New Adventures', but the sword is different - it's similar-but-different to other designs, with some flatter bits and the word "CHINA" stamped on it, classy as ever. (It's hideous.) The sword itself looks great, mostly silver with a grey handle. His armor is exquisite, with metallic dark blue adding some spice to the blue straps and pants. A silver belt has red markings and is complimented by a mobile - and probably removable - holster. Everything fits together pretty well here.
This figure is worthless on the secondary market and I expect most people don't need it. Without a companion Skeleteen - I am very upset about this, ToyGuru, how come you can't do things when you don't work there anymore? - it's on a little island with King He-Man and other future figures. This is a perfectly nice figure with swell costuming and a clear gem in his chest, but no matter how cool a new figure is in a nostalgia line it's still new. To us. The concept is old, but without years of anticipation and desire it may be hard to feel genuine excitement for this perfectly nice figure. He'll go on the shelf and hang out. Still, he won't go in front of his mom and dad... those are classics. This is just a nice glimpse at the star of an alternate dimension's He-Man reboot.
