Big Figs! One of the biggest things in action figures - very literally - are the Jakks Big Figs figures, a trend that kicked off a few years ago as a 31-inch action figure. Toy Biz and Mattel and Hasbro have all participated with low-run movie tie-ins but Jakks really made the big figure its own with 20-, 31-, and 48-inch figures as year-round and ongoing parts of their ongoing product line. The DC Comics line has a lot coming, too - a comic-based Batman has twist-and-punch action features as one of the first action-packed releases in this scale. A full range of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice figures are coming with some pretty excellent head sculpts, fleshing out your boss' assistant's massive Wonder Woman display at work. Numerous comic-based versions are coming as well.

The BB-8 and Rey figures were the clear gems of the Star Wars lines, and some details were shared. BB-8 has the thumbs-up torch and some electronic lights, plus a relatively low price point for being a close-to-full-size little robot. It's expected to be a hit - he has a few stablizers to keep him balanced and upright. Rey was confirmed as being deliberately held back for a post-movie launch per Lucasfilm's request. Given what did and didn't sell well for The Force Awakens prior to the movie, this makes a lot of sense - people weren't terribly interested in Poe until post-movie. Finn and C-3PO are also coming, as is a 31-inch C-3PO to go with last year's R2-D2. Pretty awesome!
Many other giant figures were shown in the back of the booth, including the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Megazord and Halo Master Chief as 31-inch releases. Michelangelo will return as a jumbo Ninja Turtles release, if he hasn't hit already. These bigger toys are a huge hit and are popular as "dad gifts," that is, single dads are huge fans of these items for their sons. It's science fact! Check 'em out - they're also quite popular office installations, mostly because a lot of collectors don't have room to amass them at home.
