Jurassic World! We got to see some of the new Mattel toy line at their media day in New York. Human figures are 3 3/4-inches tall. There are action figure-scaled die-cast metal vehicles. And oh, there are dinosaurs. A sample blind-bagged dinosaur was handed out to guests, and human figures of Owen and Claire. The big new black raptor has no given name - so you'll hear more about that later.

Because it's Toy Fair and a lot of outlets are covering these, I'm just going to let the images speak for themselves. These will be out in a few months, and nobody seemed to say anything about "classic" just yet. If it's a hit, let's hope for that next year. In the meantime, these figures can roar, bite, and some have exceptional (for mass-retail dinosaurs) articulation. Which is to say, "any." I see a lot of ball-jointed hips on some of the bigger guys, and the line is about as big as a 1990s toy line. Hasbro's last Jurassic World outing was pretty cool, but they were smaller toys and scale was much less of a concern. Mattel's real-feel Mosasaurus is huge, and there are more awesome items on the way. I was told most should be in the movie, but as always we'll see when the final edit hits.
