The Sleeping Giant Slumbers! I loves me some Star Wars. Comics, TV shows, movies - whatever, it all makes for a good toy. A big chunk of Hasbro's booth was devoted to the newly-released Star Wars Command line, which is effectively "green army men" based on the saga. The focus is primarily on the original trilogy with a little bit based on the TV show Rebels, a prequel set, and a tiny bit of influence from The Clone Wars. Not much new was shown - so other than a few exclusives with mystery figures in them, it is not yet known if this line will truly have any legs beyond Spring or for the new movies, which were not talked about at all.

The name of the game is "wait." Most new 3 3/4-inch The Black Series releases are due in March of 2015 - which is to say, after Toy Fair. Some 6-inch figures will trickle out around December, but for those of you who love 3 3/4-inch 5-jointed figures are in for a treat. Many new sets are due in October and December, including most of the core cast of Rebels as well as new sculpts of some surprising choices like Bossk, IG-88, Wicket, and a Scout Trooper. Even more stunning? Saga Legends will see a $6 Jedi Temple Guard - which I never would have expected to see in any line, let alone the "kid" line. I am pleased.
Exclusives for 2014 are mostly repackaged product - a 12-inch 6-pack for Target has exclusive Shadow Stormtrooper and a red Clone Trooper with some regular repacks. There isn't much to do cartwheels over right now, but on the bright side you can save some money and clear room for what I assume will be the toy orgy of the decade around October or November 2015 as Episode VII toys either ramp up, or are delayed because the movie isn't done.
Star Wars Rebels is shaping up to have a modest toy suite, with TIE Fighter Pilots, AT-DP Drivers, and even a new version of the old Kenner Imperial Troop Transporter.
