From the initial lump of clay to the product being in my house, a mere 3 weeks and change went by and I got a CyberGator head of my very own. This head was sculpted by Jason Frailey (the guy who sculpted the Armorvor figure design) as an alternate head for that figure, but as of right now there are no plans to mass-produce it in PVC. The GodBeast, a Glyos fan and amazing maker of toy things, cast the head and is now turning out some high-quality copies of the head, and the neck peg fits pretty perfectly in the Armorvor body as you can see. The catch? It comes unpainted, so if you don't have the equipment, skills, or expertise, it's basically a kit you'll never complete. Unless you're crafty, in which case it's a great (if not cheap) add-on to one of the more fun Glyos releases of the year.
The head itself comes from a great sculpt and features a mostly metal lower jaw-- well, not REAL metal, but metal-looking-sculpt-- with an articulated upper jaw made of mostly fleshy bits. The teeth fit together perfectly, and the movement is a little stiff (as it should be, this is a display piece and not really a proper toy.) The sculpting is incredibly crisp and looks like-- because, for all intents and purposes, it is-- an early prototype for a figure. The details aren't rough at all, and one can imagine a PVC release might not be as sharp... so if Onell Design or someone ever does decide to do it in PVC, this might be a little better. Still, given the pricing and effort to secure one, if you're in some future where a PVC version is available freely and easily, it's probably worth getting unless you're a moderately skilled customizer.
If the Armorvor is the must-have designer toy of the season, the CyberGator is the must-have add-on accessory. Mine is unpainted right now as I do not have the expertise, but I'm thinking it'd be worth learning just to finish the part and toss it on a decent body if one works as a particularly good fit. It really fits the armored Armorvor body design well, but I can't say the red body is a perfect fit for the gator just yet. This is a great design, hopefully the first of many concepts for future Armorvor characters that may make it into production!
