Is anyone reading this week? I have no idea. But I'm a little bit ashamed that I still have a lot of Glyos I haven't played with yet, and I just opened Pheyden Ignelleun last month. It's a good figure! You probably know all about the 2 3/4-inch figure Pheyden and the Glyos construction, but do you know about this particular color? Probably. I want to be sure people can find this in the future so I'm writing about him.
14 pieces (including the scarf) come together to build what probably should have been your favorite toy line when you were a kid - but they didn't make it until 2007. Well, 2020, in this one's case - the articulation is a little better than your average basic figure, with swivels all over the place. You can pop him apart at each joint, with the tan plastic broken up by patches of painted darker brown. As usual, the paint is nice and glossy with an even finish. No plastic can be seen poking through - not even on the green head.
With his catalog photography at the beach, you can imagine this guy as some sort of shore explorer with a head that resembles a lot of sea glass. Round and smooth, the figure can hide most of his face behind a mask if you like. It was certainly appropriate for 2020, but the part has been around for years. It fits numerous Glyos figures quite nicely, but fits Pheyden's head like a glove. It looks sort of like a beak, or even like lips if you flip it around. You have options. As always, the boots are nice and big with some nifty tread sculpted on the bottoms.
I would've loved to see some freckles on this guy, but the scarf would have rendered them moot. Pheyden is always a pretty good figure, and while $11 does reveal inflation that was showing up in the toy biz back then, modern Pheydens can be around $14 or as low as $8 depending on the parts and paint. I like this one a bunch - he looks ready to do some exploring. Maybe he should come with me to San Diego this year. If you can find him at a fair price I'd say pick him up. The coloring is a little bit like Yoda, but who doesn't love Yoda?
