I dig the Siege "Seeker" mold a lot, and I've bought a ton of them - so I got Nacelle. Who is Nacelle? Well, there was a Transformers Collectors Club exclusive toy a few years ago, which itself was based on a catalog shot of an early Thrust mock-up - it was Thundercracker with Thrust wings, more or less. This new toy is blue like Thundercracker, but has no Thrust wings and no elements specific to the conehead other than some colors from the prototype.
Since you may already have two very similar blue Siege Cybertronic Seekers, you may not need another - but the white gloves, red face, and yellow highlights were a draw for me.
I think this is the tenth iteration of this mold I've bought, and I've (so far) skipped two of them. I'll probably go back and get Shockwave but I won't be getting "Premium" Starscream - I'm happy with the one I have. But I wasn't fully satisfied with the blue Thundercacker or Ion Storm toys - I needed more! And this is more. WIth a red face, white gloves, and white shoes, he stands out from the pack thanks to just a little more variety in color. It really makes a difference. There's no battle damage on this release and that's OK - the white chest plate, yellow window, and blue faux cockpit do wonders in bringing it to life and making it "pop." The double-jointed elbows and swivel wrists are great at letting you give him some personality when you pose him, and the bright white "gloves" does help detract from the abundance of sculpted detailing all over his person - and the lack of faction markings. Despite being more or less the same blue you've seen before, it's still a striking change in the kinds of Decepticon jets you've got on your shelf. A little variety goes a long way!
You've transformed this guy before. A lot. It seems a little sturdier as the chest chunk didn't pop off for me during conversion, but also, I have at least 10 flavors of this mold. It's a shellformer of sorts - the entire jet and wings are effectively a backpack, and the robot wads up under it. It works.
If you already have the Tetrajet mold, you know what to expect. It's loaded with 5mm sockets and 3mm pegs to connect your accessories or little blast effects, but what I found striking was the lack of paint. It's mostly molded in-color, with no faction symbols and only a little paint on the blasters and vents. It still looks great, and I assume it was cheaper to make than the mainline items a few years ago. Truly, this is a mold for which Hasbro has really cashed in as it has no action features or crazy paint wipes. This has the added bonus of making sure the "Stege" detailing really stands out - there are a lot more panels, greeblies, and lines on this guy without any dirt or stripes to distract the eye. I commend Hasbro for this move, mostly because the Siege ones all had identical weathering and it looked silly after a few toys. Oddly, variety came from doing less work - kudos.
The character means nothing to me, but I just can't get enough Decepticons. I'll take a repaint, especially of these guys - it's sort of on-brand and it stands out as a colorful weirdo. If you got $35 to squander, it's a perfectly good figure and I'd only strongly recommend it a) if you don't have a dozen of these or b) if it went on sale. At full price, for a long-haul fan, you're probably better putting your cash into something new.
