I don't think Spider-Man always gets enough respect. He's supposed to have a secret identity, but the box for Spider-Man tells you that it's Miles Morales. That seems unfair to him - I know people want to make him a distinctive person, but we've also had Kid Arachnid. I'm surprised it's just not "Spider-Man (Miles Morales)" on the box, because people don't necessarily know who he is under the hood. We don't collect Bruce Waynes or Scott Summerses. It's a weird choice, presumably done to make things easier for parents.
The figure is effectively the same articulation as the rest, meaning no wrists and no ankles - but you don't need them. He's pretty sturdy and has nicely jointed hips, elbows, shoulders, and knees, plus a nice neck joint. He stands, he sits, and you can clamp what is not pee in the shape of a web to his wrist.
They did a nice job here - he could just be a repaint, but he's not. He's a unique sculpt, and I appreciate that a great deal.
As 4-inch figures go he's pretty good - the main thing to talk up are his raised webbing gives him a unique look that really stands out in a world of painted-web Spider-Man figures. If anything, he's a better-looking figure than the default Spidey thanks to that detail. If you're on a budget, get this one first. He's fun, he's distinctive, and those shoulders are nice and sharp too. And that's the last Marvel Monday - I'm going to be cutting FOTD back again starting next week with Toy Fair coming up and generally burning the candle at both ends. We'll be posting 2 reviews for October and then seeing how things shake out after the big trade show season ends.
