Comic-Con International in San Diego, CA July 21-24, 2011
The world is square! Having expanded out from its own homespun properties of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, Square-Enix seems to have a ton of licensed goods to show. The most exciting items on display were Metal Gear Solid action figures based on the first game, and these were notably larger than their other releases. An on-hand representative said they're approaching 1:6 scale, and the detail on Solid Snake and the Ninja is pretty incredible.
Batman video game characters were included as well, with gritty renditions of ol' pointy ears as well as The Joker. Nearby, a number of Capcom characters from Street Fighter were on display like Akuma, Ryu, and Chun-Li. Everything was really big, and we were told sales at the show have been fairly strong.
