New York's American International Toy Fair February 22-25, 2020

G.I. Joe! One of the worst-kept secrets in the business has been that various prototypes for what is now known as the Classified Series were in production for close to a decade. Hasbro has been dragging this one out, and now we see what the wait was for - a movie year!.

Fan reaction was positive with an asterisk - the detail was praised, but pretty much everybody within earshot had something to say about Duke, Scarlett, and Roadblock - but not Snake Eyes. Fans are already talking about customizing the (frankly nifty) sci-fi weapons with other 1:12 scale weapons or Hasbro's own Marvel Legends guns. I like the weapons - the costumes are new, and Hasbro said they had to update the look for a new era. I'm still secretly hoping they just go ahead and make 1982-style ones, but the early reads were positive enough on these guys that it's obvious there's plenty of interest.
