More minis! This set of Masters of the Universe M.U.S.C.L.E. gets you Flesh Battle Armor He-Man, Roboto, and Two-Bad. He-Man was released with the Wind Raider [FOTD #1,853], but the other two are unique for this set.
Let's get started with Battle Armor He-Man, which has a cool axe and the fancy armor. His axe is modeled after Skeletor's cartoon axe, and the chest has the big "H" without any special dents. It would've been awesome to change the figure up between releases, but it's a fine figure as it is so it's not the end of the world. His fuzz boots are here, as is the big fist for punching and a winning cheesy smile for moralizing.
The Roboto figure has to deal with some interesting questions - like how you deal with a clear chest with gears inside on a one-color mini-figure. The solution was clever - a few gears are sculpted as shallow icons on top of the chest, so both the front and back have visible cogs for your amusement. A claw hand is presented as a closed loop, and the fist is, of course, a fist. The figure has that classic head design with visor and pronounced jaw flap, and the legs look vaguely like Trap Jaw. Some of the details were changed a bit, which is welcome given that the figures don't necessarily have to share sculpting. Each figure is its own, so altering the boots a bit was a decent change of pace. It's very much Roboto, even with the changes.
Skeletor's minions make the line a lot of fun, and seeing Two-Bad makes this set a keeper. With the stony unibrow on one head and a triple-crest on the other, these fanged fiends translate nicely to a one-color format despite the original relying on hues to show off a split personality. The mace and shield are left off, instead focusing on the double-headed orc that punches himself in all of his glory. The fists are posed more like a typical M.U.S.C.L.E. figure, but at different heights helping to represent a split personality. The chest armor is divided in two patterns, the boots and gauntlets are different, but they're both stuck wearing the same set of furry briefs. Some things don't change.
The fact that you have to get He-Man twice is a bit of a nuisance, but since you get Roboto and Two-Bad it's not going to ruin your enjoyment of the set. For the regular price this set is a real keeper - if the secondary market is unkind to it down the road, well, use your best judgment. I'm really keen on the new minor Masters in this pack, particularly Two-bad. The plastic is a little less rubbery than I would have preferred, but they're sturdy, stable, and stand well. I'd recommend them.
