I waited probably too long to get the Zoner Capsule GITD Vehicle. I was happy with the silver one [FOTD #2,551] but the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to fingerprint it up, and I wanted something else to play with to see how the unique "worn" and "dented" surface played out. When I got the Crowkin, I tossed in the two glow capsules. They're still utterly charming for entirely different reasons.
For whatever reason - cost - Vehicles for Glyos figures are far and few between. They're expensive and hard to make universally compatible. For the Onell Design 2 3/4-inch figures, you'll probably swipe your kid's Imaginext toys, or snag them from a thrift store. For 3 3/4-inch figures, there are hundreds of options over the past five decades that offer varying levels of fun. You can even get some at Target in their Animal Planet range. This particular one is sized well for the Knights of the Slice and their friends, which makes it pretty fantastic. On mine the back wheel rolls freely but the front two are a little tight - it's still fun though.
The glow plastic shines surprisingly well, and also effectively shows off detail in normal light. I was surprised - the gears, indentations, lumps, cracks, and everything seem to show up quite nicely. As with before, you can see some Glyos sockets. The good news is your PVC fists, heads, and other bits will fit into them tightly. The weird news is the ABS accessories - like The Outer Space Men staffs - are a hair smaller and are loose. Who knew?
The 5 1/2-inch thing has an amazingly detailed interior where you can have a figure standing up like a luge, or laying face-down like some futuristic race sled. There's a screen/pillow in there, plus loads of buttons and other details you can pretend are pretty much anything. I'd love to see a fully-painted release, but conversations I've had with people regarding the cost of paint masks would probably make it impossible to pull off. This unpainted one originally cost $20 - and at $15, it's a very nice hinged box with three wheels and some pins in it. But indie toymakers have to eat.
If it's still in stock for $15 and you don't own any Zoner capsules, get one. I don't assume we'll see many more, as I write this the last new one came out a year ago and we've only had a few colors so far. They're cheaper than the figures and fun to zoom around with, but I can see why people are just more inclined to shell out for a new figure instead. The modern era of action figure collecting favors the figures themselves, and outside of Imaginext there aren't a lot of big-deal vehicles or playsets. It may not be worth ordering alone because shipping charges are a cruel necessary evil for anyone who isn't a massive retailer - so order one the next time you check out with something else. I'd say "you won't be sorry," but it's not like I know you. I certainly wasn't sorry - and if they ever make one of these in an opaque color I'd probably pick up a third one. (For the record, I've got at least four regular Regen Capsules plus a custom one that's a thing of beauty.)
