While the 1980s have nothing on today as far as merchandising games go, the superstars of the era were treated to numerous tie-ins, be they TV trays or toys. Q*Bert wasn't the biggest star of his day, but his vibrant, unusual design did lead to at least a few interesting toys.
This particular Q*Bert on a skateboard with his walkman was a childhood toy, and research has been inconclusive as to the actual manufacturer. Only marked "Gottleib 1983," it's apparently an old Kenner toy. There were a grand total of six of these PVC figures in various outfits, including one on a disc from the game, one playing baseball, and another being attacked by one of the game's villains.
The figure was originally sold on a blister card like most action figures, but as this has been part of the 16bit.com Staff Collection since before personal computers had a full megabyte of RAM, it has long since been discarded like the cartoon from which it was most likely derived.
