New York's American International Toy Fair February 14, 2015

Transformers Robots in Disguise! Launched last December, Robots in Disguise is continuing along somewhat slowly. The second wave is hitting stores now, with the next batch of Warriors to include Jazz and Drift. And after that, Mini-Cons return in the form of new "Deployers" Drift and Fracture. And good for them, as it's a new, higher-priced play pattern with the upset of little weapons to lose.

The one-step toys continue with the likes of Thunderhoof and Fracture, plus another Drift. It seems each new wave intends to please with numerous options for each character, which is probably going to wonders for character recognition while decreasing deep collecting for the long-term collector. As a kid line, this is probably just fine.

New Mini-Cons will come with a sprue of stuff. Little guns, blades weapons, and other gizmos pop out for kids to lose immediately after purchase while appearing as a value-add in the frame of an Autobot or Deception symbol.

With the giant Ultimate Bumblebee as the line's biggest-ever flagship product, the 3-step toy should be a hit for the kids and probably sell big units come Christmas. The rest of us will shell out for Generations Ultra Magnus and Devastator, and odds are Bumblebee will drive the business. That is the price of love. These toys will come out over the course of the years.
