Star Wars! The greatest action figure license brand I'll ever buy, but not one that has been enjoying a massive collector push. The Retro Collection will get a new Target exclusive set this week - it goes up for pre-order March 5 - but was removed from the display before I got there. It has Luke Skywalker (Yavin Ceremony), Sandtrooper, Han Solo (Stormtrooper Disguise), Walrus Man, Dr. Evazan, and a Rebel Fleet Trooper. Also shown were new Epic Hero Series toys, The Black Series,, and The Vintage Collection.

The Epic Hero Series X-Wing Fighter is a 4-inch scale ship, but you can cram a Kenner Hammerhead in it. (Ask me why I know this.) The R2-D2 dome is articulated, but not removable, and the wings can open. There are pop-out energy bits in the engines too. I was surprised and delighted that it was bright almost-Kennery white with red and yellow. It's neither a perfect movie or toy deco, but it's a nice hybrid thing. I want one.
Other vehicles include mechs and energy-crackling retreads of some existing vehicles. It's weird, I like it - Star Wars has typically stayed away from bonkers "toy" deco, and it looks like they're starting to play in that area. As long as it's not hundreds of items, I'm all for it.
There wasn't too much else new on display when I was there, but you can see the new Hammerhead and other toys elsewhere (or pre-order it. There's a lot to like, but we're well beyond a "one size fits all" selection of products.
