Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Cyclops Action FigurePart of the New York Comic Con Cyclops cost a lot more than the San Diego counterparts. That set was $50. This set? $65. No idea why. The figures were sold at New York Comic Con, and the remaining stock was split between Action Figure Xpress and Store Horsemen. They were $65 there too. There's nothing in the product to warrant the $15 increase over the Alpha and Galactic Holiday editions, but well, that's life. It costs more. Of the three figures in this set, Cyclops is the meatiest and provides the most options.

This is one beefy figure. It's huge-- it towers above the other figures in the line and it feels like there must be twice as much plastic as an average figure in here. Largely unpainted, the figure is cast in clear smoke plastic with a single orange eye. He gets a little more color from his yellow helmet, but wait there's more! He has a clear helmet under his 2-piece helmet, plus removable 2-piece armor with working holsters for his guns. If this were a $20 figure by itself, I don't think I could complain in the slightest. (But for $65 with the other two, well, complaining is easy.)

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Cyclops Action Figure

Four Horsemen Outer Space Men Beta Phase Cyclops Action FigureLike the other figures in line, it features Glyos plugs so you can swap limbs with other figures. Unlike other figures, it's huge. This may be the biggest Glyos figure yet, and I've noticed that if you don't have him posed right, he may lean forward. Keep an eye on him to see if he's tipping forward on your shelf, otherwise he'll nosedive on the floor. The good news is that (so far) mine hasn't cracked or anything, so it's a pretty nicely made figure.

This figure has more "action figure functionality" than the rest, incorporating some clever design.shtmlects surrounding his twin ray guns. The yellow blasters may be stored in holsters in the armor's belt, or in the closed fists. And if you don't like the closed fists, you get opened, clawed hands. They fit pretty well in either place, although I should note that it seems the smoke Cyclops can hold his guns in the holster more easily than the blue version. The blue version, at least on my sample, is a smidgen looser.

14 joints make this a nicely articulated figure as well, although his imposing size has made it so there's little hidden on here. An Easter Egg can be found on his torso as creator Mel Birnkrant instructed the Four Horsemen to embellish a design from the 1960s prototype which just happens to look a lot like Pheyden from the Onell Design Glyos action figure range. The design is appropriately retro but smoke doesn't do wonders to bring out the sculpted details. This guy is covered in knobs, muscles, grooves, and other markers which look really great. It's just that, at times, clear or light plastic can suck those details right up. (The blue one looks better and is cheaper. Big Red is no slouch either.)

If you like Glyos or Outer Space Men toys, Cyclops is essential. Although I'll leave the version of which Cyclops up to you.
