The Iron Man in the 8-Pack Avengers Figure Collection is a redeco of a retool of a figure that was pretty common. If that makes sense. So it's a re-remake, and it's OK. It ain't great.

Hasbro Avengers Target Exclusive 8-Pack Figure Collection Iron Man Action FigureTony Stark has had an array of armors that would make Spider-Man giggle like a schoolgirl, although the bulk of them for The Avengers are all largely based on the same armor. This is closest to the Fusion Armor Iron Man, which has 15-ish points of articulation if you could double-hips and double-knees, it's still a little stiff. Iron Man wasn't designed to sit, and every time I move him I see a tiny flake of red paint crack off. This is a figure which doesn't really want you to touch it.

While there's no waist joint, the deco is really something. The quasi-metallic yet somehow candylike armor is really beautiful. If it didn't flake off, I'd say it was one of Hasbro's most beautiful figures of the year. The repulsors in his hands and feet are not painted differently from the red armor color, but his Arc Reactor is blue instead of white. This is a little different from the other releases. The gold paint is quite nice, and the silver highlights are great. It's amazing how good the figure's paint is for the size, it really does help it make look richer and yes, more expensive.

Since the figure has no wrists and the pose is a little stiff, it's hard to get a lot of really nifty poses out of the guy. It may have actually benefitted Hasbro to do a figure with even less articulation, but a more dynamic, statuesque pose and those square hip joints I like so much. I was excited to get this one because I wanted an Iron Man, as I didn't have a proper movie one in this size yet. I like it, but due to how the paint behaves I won't be playing with it much. I hope Hasbro puts out a more kid-friendly, sturdier figure in this size for the next Iron Man movie. I love the deco, I just wish it didn't flake.
