Onell Design Glyos Lost Sincroid Army Genesis Corps Action FigureThis is a pretty great figure from a pretty superlative release. The last drop was exceptionally great - this was the first opening I had in the schedule since its delivery, and I was having a heck of a time deciding which figure to review first because they were all quite good. I went with the Lost Sincroid Army Genesis Corps due to the coloring and ease-of-showing-up-on-screen - the Dark Traveler Rift Breaker was the other really great one as it's also packed with surprises.

Onell Design Glyos Lost Sincroid Army Genesis Corps Action FigureThe Lost Sincroid Army figures have been in development for years with the first figures being teased in 2007 with bodies different than what we see on this release today. The heads look very similar to the original incarnations, with lots of lines/scars, a portruding chin, and big lines on the dome of the head. The main LSA head has a removable dome now, which attaches via a Glyos peg - so you can give him a green dome, if you like and have the pieces on hand. I was pretty surprised to see this. Rather than painting the figure's neck, Onell Design gave him a smaller, mini scarf that looks like it was designed to fit a smaller, as-of-yet-unreleased mini figure. The surly face has a lot of good personality in it, with nice red eyes popping out of the grey face.

Also in this set is an alternate Elder Exellis head. This is a new mold made of three parts - the grey neck isn't painted, it's a second piece. The dome is also totally removable. The "collar" around the neck gives the figure a more refined look and due to the color of plastic, it's not like it needs painted panel lines to see all the detailing. The light does all of the work here, and it gets freaky. The dome is removable, with the nose being part of the dome. Without this piece, the head goes from a quasi-humanoid robot of some sort to an utterly alien creature that looks like he has withered and decayed with time. The change is quite striking, double so when you start to swap the domes. Designer Matt Dought has come up with a way to make vastly different faces out of just a few pieces, and I'm incredibly excited to see what he's going to do while he starts mixing colors within the heads down the line.

Arms and legs are standard Traveler fare - you've seen the same ones on Pheyden and his descendants. What's new, though, is the torso. It is a completely new design, and has been equipped with a removable, rotating belt. This particular figure is designed with the thick part of the belt on his backside, covering his rear end. The Dark Traveler Rift Breaker has it positioned on the front, but also has an alternate belt filled with pockets that can be swapped in as an order bonus. (More on that later.) While a run-of-the-mill Pheyden figure has 13 parts, the Lost Sincroid Army figure as shipped by Onell Design sports 16 pieces - not a huge increase, but certainly enough to grab your attention.

Onell Design Glyos Lost Sincroid Army Genesis Corps Action FigureIf you collect this line, you're going to want to get a version of this figure - possibly two or three so you can swap around domes as bad toupees. I don't love the coloration as much as I did the earlier castings, but I do dig their appearance and especially how these parts will probably look good with nearly any other color of plastic. Given the chance, you should grab a few - but if funds are tight, and the opportunity presents itself, start with the Dark Traveler Rift Breaker. (We'll look at him very soon.)

...but seriously, get two or more of these guys in various colors. The amount of fun you can have reconfiguring the heads is well worth the price of admission.
