In the first eight years of the Armorvor's life, it experienced multiple releases with the Wolf head and the Dinosaur head. Dozens. Painfully large quantities. But Armorvor Cerrek Commando Gorellux comes out now as the whopping fifth new Armorvor head in a year! We've had a fish, a dragon, a cougar, and a cyborg wolf - and now we can go ape.
The same body is back in grey with black and orange highlights. It's a marvelous look that Onell Design applied to Pheyden, a Glyan, a Crayboth, and numerous upgrade packs as well as a new Gendrone.
The main point of focus here is the head - you've seen this body dozens of times and you know it has decent articulation. You know it can pop apart at each of its 16 connection points (assuming you count the backpack and Black Core pieces, that is.) But the head is new - the silver-hair gorilla has glossy black skin and a lot of personality. The beady orange eyes barely peek out from the skin and helmet, which has a ton of detail. Not only are the sides of his face protected by armor, but there's a headset microphone on there - something we've all been getting more used to wearing ourselves in light of our transitions to stay-at-home work.
The Onell Design crew doesn't stop there, because if you flip the figure's head around 180 degrees you'll see a face on the back of the helmet. The unmistakable design of a chin and a visor are impossible to miss, so the aspiring customizer could get another new personality out of this nifty grim mold.
For the aging fans of Battle Beasts, each new head for the Armorvor is a fun little gift. Even though it is technically more of the same, I tend to pull out my old toys whenever we get a new head mold and have fun putting them in the pilot's seats of various vehicles or fighting some other figures. It sold out, but these heads almost always come back in new colors - get one if you can. I'm hoping for colors to match Gygor or Ossified Orangutan, but I also have a limited imagination.
