I picked up a few different versions of this figure but initially skipped the Raider (GID Blue). Obviously, I went back and got it when an opportunity came up - and for $5 under a painted figure price, it's pretty decent. A low-run 3 3/4-inch figure with almost no paint may not sound appealing, but if you've been following you know it's cool because an ex-Kenner sculptor worked on it, and because it's a Glyos system figure. That means the glow is good - it can glow for hours when charged by the Sun. For those keeping track, blue glow charges slowly but glows for hours. Red charges quickly, but burns out quickly. And green is in the middle.
The Raider sculpt once again gives you what appears to be an eyepatch-wearing Peter cushing head, a cyborged hooded Cobra Commander head, a retro blaster, and an armor-wearing figure that looks like it was inspired by but completely distinct from the school that gave us Boba Fett. The classic bone-colored green glow absorbs a lot of the sculpted detail, but the blue reflects just enough that you can make out a lot of the sculpted details. The Darth Vader-esque vertical lines on the body suit are easy to see here, as is a little screen on the wrist armor and a nice big belt. Both head have limited painted elements that bring out the eyes and eye-adjacent elements with black paint... and that's it. I bet the Healey Made crew could run a version two of these guys with a little more paint on them, but they probably wouldn't be $20.
As with before, this Kenner-style figure will fit in your old toy vehicles and playsets, but not perfectly. The Raider lacks foot peg holes, so he can't use foot pegs but stands on his own fairly well. His hand can hold his blaster (and not Kenner blasters), ad you can swap his head (or rockets) as they use a standard Glyos peg. You probably know this, as I assume few people will be reading this unless you were already aware of the Glyos doctrine, or a terrible accident took place. That also means you can swap parts with Pheyden or Inferno or anybody else made by the Glyos factories - some parts swap better than others.
As someone that likes both glow toys and Kenner toys... and also Glyos toys, that's three things, I found this to be a figure I like. But it's not necessarily a must-buy if you already have a painted one, or a green glow one, unless you have sub-collections in those areas. If you only buy one Raider figure, I'd recommend getting a fully-painted one because they're awesome - unless you specialize in glow, in which case this or the green one are both excellent (and I daresay superior) examples of what glowing plastic can do. If you could snag one of these at a fair price, I'd recommend it because it's a quality product made for a very, very specialized kind of toy buyer.
