Overview
Air Hunter is a Destron warrior in the TransFormers Robot Masters line of toys from Takara. Released only in Japan, this toy includes a two-piece blaster rifle and a clear green spear weapon, the latter of which is available only in this set.
Air Hunter was previously sold, with his rifle, as several different toys in the USA and Japan. Originally sold as Megaplex and Megatron during Machine Wars, he was later used in the USA for Robots In Disguise when it was called Wind Sheer and sold in Japan during Beast Wars II as Thrust. No changes were made to the mold during any of these releases.
To distinguish this figure from other releases, Air Hunter is now molded in a translucent grey plastic. Previous versions were black, yellow, silver, and even baby blue.
Packaging
This toy came packaged in regular Robot Masters packaging, which is fairly intricate. Inside a box, there's a three-piece plastic tray to hold the figure in place, which is surprisingly extensive for a small toy. Best of all, there's no twist ties!
Like all Robot Masters, the set includes Generation One-styled TransFormers logos as well as faction symbols similar to that era.
