Overview
Wrecker Hook is a Destron warrior in the TransFormers Robot Masters line of toys from Takara. Released only in Japan, he includes a removable hidden blaster pistol in the front grille of his truck mode as well as an exclusive to this release weapon-- a clear green mace!
This toy is a repainted version of an old mold used for Machine Wars (Hoist and Hubcap) as well as Robots in Disguise (Tow-Line) in the USA and in Car Robots (Wrecker Hook, Super Wrecker Hook) in Japan. Previous versions of this mold were Autobots/Cybertrons, this is the first repaint of the figure to become a Destron.
To distinguish this figure from other releases, Wrecker Hook is now a black-with-hot-rod designs decorated toy. Previous releases were clear orange or resembled the coloring of Scooby Doo's Mystery Machine.
Packaging
This toy came packaged in regular Robot Masters packaging, which is fairly intricate. Inside a box, there's a three-piece plastic tray to hold the figure in place, which is surprisingly extensive for a small toy. Best of all, there's no twist ties!
Like all Robot Masters, the set includes Generation One-styled TransFormers logos as well as faction symbols similar to that era.
