If you're looking for a pop culture inkblot test, the LEGO Bumblebee Girl is it. Some people might see her and see what she is - a young woman in a bug costume. Others might think of the Channel Ocho Bee. Your hardcore comedy nerds, on the other hand, will remember one Paul F. Tompkins' bit on how a guy wanted to have relations with a bee, and asked if his girlfriend was making fun of him when she came back in a sexy bee costume. That's what I choose to see.
Any way you slice it, it's goofy and a clever reuse of wings. The honey bucket is a sharp accessory, but the question as to why this novel costume and not something else remains. The helmet has the antennae on it, the suit has stripes, and the only thing she's really missing is some sort of a stinger.
Everything fits together rather nicely, other than the rather off-putting clear plastic around her neck. I assume the main use of this figure will be as some goofy mall employee to the tune of a Hot Dog on a Stick or some such, but maybe you've found a better use for her. She's been sitting on my desk for months and is certainly one of the most memorable figures, but I think it's unlikely that anybody is going to get a lot out of this design without a strong imagination.
