The Werewolf continues LEGO's bright idea to make classic monsters in its blind-bagged line, prior to putting out other (and sometimes better) versions in the Monster Fighters line which is due to end in about six weeks. It's not the first werewolf either, as LEGO had a wolfman in its LEGO Studios line roughly 10 years ago. Oddly, each version is quite different as the original Werewolf had a sculpted head, this one merely has a pointy ear hairpiece over a painted regular head, and the new Monster Fighters one has a new sculpted head. Oh, and this very werewolf we're reviewing shares the same hair/ear piece as the LEGO Minifigures Series 3 Elf. (LEGOlas, get it?)
So this is basically just a normal Minifigure with a fancy hair piece and a dog bone. Easy! The figure has painted fangs, bushy eyebrows, and bright yellow eyes. His shirt and pants are torn open for some reason, with a fair amount of painted chest hair. The dark brown fur contrasts nicely with the torn blue pants and white shirt, although when you get right down to it, this isn't particularly complicated figure. This is exactly what a figure like this should be save for the bone which I gotta say doesn't really seem necessary for this one.
If you have the means and it's cheap, get it and you won't be sorry. I've been picking up all the blind-bagged monsters I can and I gotta say, they're fun. Although now I think I may actually have more LEGO Minifigures than I know what to do with around the office.
