I have a lot of great toys on my hard drive that I never wrote up, like this Alien that I photographed in 2019! The 2015 release is really nice, and the line - as it was - is over. Sure, you can still get Imaginext stuff but their daffy mystery bag line is over. Jurassic and DC licensed bags are available, but if you want off-brand aliens, sports people, monsters, and other awesomeness? That era is long over.

I like this alien figure, but it's my least favorite in my collection. It looks a bit like a mix of futures and pasts. A bit of it looks like the various protagonists in Tron what with its pale greenish skin and helmet, but the pink seems out of the 1990s and the cat-like ears seems more like something that came a few minutes before the kitty earphone craze. But most importantly, it seems to be a scantily clad little green man in a big robot suit.

It doesn't quite have the full vibes of Tron, but the patterns on the chest and arms look like it could have been from a non-existent "plays with" line called Electro or some such. Upon closer examination, you can see some hair on this guy - some Norman Osborne-esque lines of lattitude on the back of the skull join some visible blue sideburns, resulting in a distinctive being.

With no handheld weapons, this intergalactic, interdimensional, or otherwise otherworldly being seems ready to embark on any sort of adventure. Maybe it'll steal a bike, or a space ship. The sculpted armor looks pretty protective, with soft sculpting that isn't quite as harsh as on some toys of the 1980s.

The little person-in-suit angle is covered up by the helmet. It looks a lot like that of Ram-Man, with more face coverings and vents peppered throughout.

It's not a one-eyed tongue or a four-armed invader, but it has pointy ears! In the context of the entirety of non-branded Imaginext, it's incredibly interesting and a creative spin on the $3 3-inch figure line. I'm sad we're not getting more of them. We got one cool sci-fi-esque person in nearly every series, some of which alluded to older toy lines and some were just whimsical new designs. Series 10, 11, and 12 were just slam-dunks, and with any luck you'll tumble on them and have a great time. And if you can't find it in a thrift store somewhere, this guy is incredibly cheap on eBay these days as we may be many, many years away from kids getting nostalgic and collecting these. It might not happen for decades. It may never happen. But at least you can say you got it before it was cool.
