Sometimes I don't know what is appropriate to review here-- because this Green Lantern from Mixo is not an action figure as such, but when you get right down to it it's quite similar to the amount of play you get from a Mighty Muggs figure. The head can turn, and beyond that, it doesn't do much. Since this showed up in the mail, I figured, what the heck? (Attention toy companies: if you send me things in the mail you might get a review here. Just sayin'.)
While artwork provided with the Kooky Cans also advertised "Kooky Crafts," none were included with my sample so I can't say it has any accessories to speak of. A flyer showed a sort of a gar which may or may not also be the box. The company has a light focus on papercraft goods, so keep an eye out for those. All I got is this giant metal Pringles tin with Hal Jordan on it, but really, when have you ever needed a reason to buy a tin to keep some crap in?
At 8/12-inches tall, it's a sizable piece-- but it's a can. The deco and style is neat, and seems to have more in common with the likes of Astro-Boy than most American "urban vinyl" styling. The top of the can makes up the head, and as such, it can swivel. You can cram stuff inside it, and it's brimming in personality. While I do find the hands a little short and the abs a smidgen disturbing, the overall look of the item and its ability to stand up well makes it feel like a nice (and possibly permanent) fixture to my desk... which, with 2 computers, 4 monitors, a fan, and a ton of other crap, is actually high praise.
I won't be reviewing the rest of the line in-depth any time soon, so look below for shots of some of the other items in the line- there's also a Batman, monsters, and Smurfs. It's a charming style and may make for some interesting apparel or other licensed products down the road, and I certainly wouldn't mind seeing this sort of product applied to other licenses like Masters of the Universe or Star Wars or Predator. I'm pretty sure that papercraft car thing should have been in the can, and while I won't go out of my way to get that (presumably) missing piece, I'd say the can in and of itself is a worth a few bucks. If you saw this at Target in their Christmas area, this would be an ideal stocking stuffer or something to give a kid for Christmas, a birthday, or a Bar Mitzvah with a check or a $20 in there. I'm not saying I want to collect them all, but I'm happy to have this one and given the right license I might pick up another couple of them.
