Some of us are dorks. My wife presented me with this Throwing Superman, as she sometimes goes to Sonic Drive-Ins for lunch. "I don't know what it is. Sisyphus or something." This is how you know you married right. Also, this seems to be the best toy in the series - I don't need a tiara, stickers, or a round thing. But a 3 1/2-inch figure with giant throwing arms? I'll take it.
The hard plastic Superman seems to borrow from numerous incarnations, bringing you most of the high marks. The curl, the cape, the boots, the underwear on the outside. The only thing missing is the yellow "S" on the back of the cape - other than that, this is a pretty good Superman figure making grabby hands. It looks best with the rock in his hands... without the rock, it looks like a harassment lawsuit in the making.
He's mostly hard plastic with a removable cape, capable of raising his hands slightly and when you let go the rock flies. It's actually pretty impressive for a free toy in a bag of food, and it reminds me of some of the better offerings in the 1990s from other quick-service eateries. Normally you don't get something this big, or with an action feature. It's bit and satisfying, while it's not perfect I should note it's also basically free with tots and chicken fingers. The numbers work here.
I wouldn't go to eBay and pay $10 for one, but as a freebie with lunch it's superb. This is a pretty fantastic free figure, and something that makes the other ones look sad and depressed. He's chipper, muscular, and ready to throw a rock at you. In this respect, it may not be the Superman you remember, but it's certainly the one you want on your desk to throw a rock at your neighbor.
