Now that's what I call a fun meal prize! Wendy's made DC Comics-themed keshi figures. There are six sets in four colors each - my first pull was Batman, Catwoman, and Nightwing in red. Red is not flattering. The collection is surprising - no Harley Quinn or The Joker, but you can get Gorilla Grodd. Well, whatever - it's a $5 figure pack with free food as far as I'm concerned. When Super7 was offering similarly sized collectible figures, you got a similarly sized box with a sticker and one figure and it was around $4.99, or a 3-pack of M.U.S.C.L.E. for $6.99. Great deals, as far as I was concerned - this $5 kid meal is sort of mind-blowingly cheap by modern standards. Historically we've seen some really killer deals like the original Batman: The Animated Series and various LEGO and Bionicle sets (with authentic pieces) in the 1990s and early 2000s, or Burger King's awesome Z-Bots or Universal Monsters figures in the 1990s. This is up there with those.
Each figure is about two inches tall and in an action pose. They're a bit beefier than S.U.C.K.L.E. or other similar figures, maybe more in line with O.M.F.G. If you walked into the store and saw 3-packs of these guys for $5, you'd buy it - they stand well and while the details are a little shallow, they're there. You can see Nightwing's clubs on his back, or multi-layered Bat-symbols on Bruce's chest. Catwoman is a little simpler with a retro costume and cape, and not a heck of a lot of great details. But she's here.
Each figure has smaller legs and proportions that probably skew away from a traditional keshi-ish figure and toward something like He-Man - big head, big fists, huge chest, smaller legs.
The lantern jaws are mighty, but whoever designed these guys should be proud. You can see Batman's utility belt, Catwoman has claw-ish nails, ad Nightwing's boots look pretty great. They aren't nearly as rubbery as any other figure in this style that I've bought in recent years, but they've got a tiny bit of give to them. They're certainly not rubbery.
You get a little envelope of cards and three figures with soda, fries, plus nuggets and/or one of the worst fast food burgers I've ever had. (A cold bun, really?) It's not exactly a great lunch, but as a snack or a day where you really don't need a lot of food - with a toy - this is a great thing to pick up. I hope Wendy's does more mini-figures like these because they're awesome. Not that I want to make it a habit of going multiple times a week to collect them all, it's been quite some time since I went there for food and if it weren't for this nifty toy promotion I probably would've just gone somewhere else.
