Hey, a bug! Cockroach Ghost is a blind-bagged figure I got for cheap, but I'm drawing a blank on seeing it in the movie. The original toy line did well by making up ghosts that weren't in the movie or the cartoons, so rather than pay for another ticket I'll just wait for Blu-Ray or whatever and say it's unique here. And you'll tell me I'm wrong later.
This one is a bug, complete with wings and feelers and stuff. He's clear yellow with painted brown elements on the front, and a core of green glow-in-the-dark plastic. It's hard to get it bright for long - a black light really charges this sucker, but it fades quickly.
For the glow hardcore people, this is not an impressively bright figure - it turns green, you can see it in a dark room, but you have to go through some special tricks to get there. The front of the figure blocks a lot of light from coming in to charge the core, as brown legs block much of the entry to that element. It's a nicely sculpted figure, though, even if not necessarily Ghostbusters-y. The antenna are nicely textured, the teeth are sharp, the wings are detailed, and it looks like what a kid might find scary about a ghost bug. The amber-like plastic is also striking.
For a cheap, tiny, and small figure you could undoubtedly cram in your nose it's not exactly big, or amazing, but it's cute enough. I like it. It's not like most figures in my glowing toy enclave, but it's worth the 20 cents that it cost me to put another 1 1/2-inches of plastic in a dark closet with a line light bulb to amuse myself. This is what you do when you get a job - you buy glow toys and put them in a closet. It's a good one, not amazing but good enough that I'd say it would be worth two or three bucks.
