Familiarity breeds contempt - if you want a line to get some long-term love, martyr it. Rynas Burst was a clear, almost completely unpainted redeco from Beast Saga, a toy line which I foolishly assumed would be brought over to the USA by Hasbro as they did with Beyblade. I still imported pretty much the whole line, mostly because I was so high on vintage Battle Beasts and filled with optimism for the Minimates that I simply had to have everything - and now I don't feel that way. Because this line burned out quickly I actually kind of miss it, even the clear repaints which I was actually starting to get sick of after the third series. Two more unpainted series were planned, and were mercifully axed before it was too late.
As with all of these guys, Rynas Burst has 4 joints. You can move her shoulders and hips, plus there's a dice launcher. This time around he's cast with clear dark blue armor, which resembles a fortress or a castle. The Rhino elements are a clear cola-like black color, so in most lighting situations he may appear opaque. His eyes are painted gold.
Some of the details look even better in the clear version - the cybernetic nose looks like a metal replacement, while the painted one just looked red. You can see the rivets and panels much more easily here. The simple, flat lines of the armor are even more simplistic in this color, giving the figure a slightly more chunky and maybe even rushed appearance if you look at it too close. As such, don't get right up in his face - from a distance, it still looks marvelous as a desk decoration. He includes a sword and a shield, neither of which seem to fit his massive bulk. They're just too tiny.
If you're looking for something as unique as it is unnecessary, you can do a lot worse than this little guy. I don't have the love of unpainted or clear variants as some collectors, but I do appreciate how they highlight sculpted elements that the loud paint tends to drown out. I would suggest you get the painted one first, but if you're in a brightly lit office where a figure like this can sit somewhere as a well-lit jewel, grab it. It's going to look awesome.
