$60 for Blaster, KP Glit, KP Sundor, KP Rosanna was a rare decent value. Prices are going up a lot, so a Voyager-class toy ($43 at most stores) and two extra tape buddies ($10-$12, by most estimates, each) with some new gear and extra paint works out for me. Honestly I'd probably have happily dropped $40 on just the three Kiss Players tapes since I didn't have the surplus scratch when the original G1 mold-based releases came out in Japan in 2007. My loss, those toys looked great.
All the figures in the set are repaints, and that's OK. It's a decent mix of stuff, especially if you're a fan of the old tape toys. We don't get new flavors of tape deck often enough.

Blaster in Jem regalia reused the venerable 2022 Kingdom Blaster [FOTD #2,429] mold, which I have three other versions of so far. (I missed Shattered Glass but am on the lookout.) Prices have gone up significantly in the past four years, but it was a good toy then and it's a good mold now. The core robot is basically the same, and is on par with most new Voyager-class toys. Blaster doesn't have swivel wrists, but this is a generally sturdy figure that is capable of assuming a lot of good poses. The pink and gray plastic have glitter in them, so it's a fun sparkly robot with a new, open-mouth head. This head has a big, Lupin III smile and the requisite Jem-esque stars and hair-colored helmet.
The figure isn't a precise match for the singer, but it's close. The robot has more gray, and the singer has more pink. The important thing is that this figure is much brighter and more colorful and glittery than any other Autobot or Decepticon, so no matter what, it stands out. And it probably helped Hasbro keep the Jem trademark in use, which is good for them.
Jemster has quite a bit of gear. The Electro-Scrambler is cast in a gorgeous blue. He has a microphone. There's a guitar with an Autobot face on it, which can turn into a keytar, which can also store the microphone and work as an actual blaster rifle. It's way more gear than you need, but not more than the toy can carry. Also, turning the robot to a boombox is pretty easy. This is one of Hasbro's best molds in the last decade, and it makes sense that they keep using it. (As opposed to Soundwave, who keeps getting facelifts.)
As a convention exclusive, this would be a pretty decent buy unto itself. It's weird, colorful, and has new gear. But wait, he said, there's more.
The set also has three tapes, all based on the original Kiss Players tape set. The whole idea there is there's singing, and weirdly underdressed young girls, and evil robots with tongues that seem a little out of place in a kid's franchise. Those are left out here, so you get KP Sundor (orange Laserbeak), KP Rosanna (pink Eject/Rewind), and KP Glit (white Ravage, repurposed as Shattered Glass Ravage later.) Rosanna is the same as the previously released Eject/Rewind mold, but now with added blue blaster accessories. There's also a block to connect them together, so Blaster or other toys can use them as a handheld accessory. It is worth noting that Rosanna shares a tool with Blaster's chest window, so they're both the same shade of pink. It doesn't quite match the 2007 original, but it passes the vibe test.
Sundor is bright orange with gold cannons and a nice gold fade on the wings. The golden eyes and details more or less match the original toy, or at least, match except for some gray bits. It meets my expectations, and it's fun to see a Japanese exclusive from a reasonably obscure line come to life. Less obscure is Glit, thanks to the character becoming SG Ravage thanks to one David Willis. You don't get the yellow Decepticon symbol, but everything else is a close match. You get blue cannons, you get little blue legs, but the paws on the 2026 version are blue and not white. Both of these tapes are reused from last year's Studio Series 86 Soundwave with Buzzsaw, Laserbeak, and Ravage [FOTD #2,977] set.
I'm keeping it short because I'm reviewing somewhere in the neighborhood of 365 toys this year and this box has four in it. I'll say they're good repaints. I like them a lot. It's a good mix of new and obscure things that I don't already own, and I found the price to be competitive with other Hasbro toys in the market. If they ever rerun this one, I'd recommend it. There's a lot to enjoy here. If you don't get it, that's fine, but odds are you like cassettes and what other reason could you need?
