I've been curious about the bigger Blokees for a while, and was trying to get one of the Walmart "doorbuster" $5 Classic Class guys since last year. Thankfully for me, the web site marked them down in 2026 so I got 2007 Optimus Prime for five bucks. At about 5-inches tall, it's comparable to a modest Deluxe-class Hasbro toy in height. It's a kit, so you have to assemble it. It does not transform. But, it does light up, and the easily misread instructions sent me out to buy a $7 battery. Whoops. That's why you unscrew the weird looking parts before going out to the battery place, people.
It's an interesting kit with a lot of specialized parts - but also, repeated parts from the 4-inch Galaxy Class toys. The figure is built around a light-up brick chest that's used in the smaller light-up figures. The body is bulked up with neck and shoulder pegs and numerous armor kibble parts covering it up, so you might never actually notice. Most of the parts are unique to this kit, but I admire building off existing parts to keep parts down. I mean, look at Zoids, which repurposed some blasters, twist bolts, and pilots over the first couple decades of the line.
Of particular note is the price. Not only was it $5.00 at Walmart, but it was briefly $5 on Amazon too.

Assembling figure is pretty easy. It comes on a series of clearly labeled frames with die-cut holes, making it legible without squinting so much. Several parts are pre-painted, so you can just pop them out and built the kit at your own pace. With under 100 parts, it took me about an hour or so. Don't forget to take out the battery tab.
The figure has a decent helping of optional accessories. His blaster is included, and it can go in his hand. But it can't go in his hand at the same time as his blades, because they get in the way. It's kind of a bummer there's no on-toy storage, but it's not a huge problem. The figure also includes a stand and two effects parts to indicate some sort of energy blast or build-up. It's a pretty decent selection. It owuld have been nice if the blades had some silver paint, but it's pretty decent given the price. I assume a deluxe fancy version is possible.
But how the actual robot? Pretty good. I went to compare it to the first Voyager-class Optimus Prime [FOTD #1,942] from 2018. I haven't given it a look in a couple of years, and time has not been kind. The proportions of this kit are fudged a bit, with an enlarged head, but it still looks really nice. The color layout seems more in line with the movie than most of the toys, although the orange doesn't quite pop as much. Obviously any fan can add some more paint, but Blokees did a nice job with this one. Those seeking perfection have Dramatic Capture Series or MPM toys to buy, but this turned out to be a well-proportioned robot with a better chest and some nicely jointed parts.
He has swappable fists/hands, and they're on ball joints. To add the blades, you'll have to remove some panels from his arms. He has loads of handy joints which you will clearly see as you complete the manufacturing process, and he reminds me a lot of some of the lower-cost Gundam kits I've assembled over the years. His elbows bend and swivel, he has a ball-and-socket jointed neck, he has ball-jointed ankles... it's about as good as you can hope for on a robot figure without an alt mode.

I feel it's worth mentioning again that this is a model kit, not a proper toy. Some of the internet's finest short fiction from unreliable narrators (apologies to John Hodgman) can be found on online product reviews for this toy, frequently citing breakages and confusion because it's a model and not a toy. I assume that can be hard to convey if you don't recognize the brand names. Not looking at the photos or description might also be an issue. I found it to be a nicely thought out kit, not particularly challenging nor too simple.
