In each case of Blokees Defender figures you get at least one chase - this series it'll be either Jetfire or Galvatron. Since I found plain Jane Galvatron, I assume a fancy cool Jetfire awaits me in the next few boxes. It's a pretty great little figure, even without the fancy enhancements. He's got angry teeth, but sadly they're only painted white on the super duper chase 1:144 version. The orange cannon has a silver element on the back in both special versions... but the plain one is just orange. It's still neat, and I'd still have gone nuts for it about 25-30 years ago back when getting an oddly posed Super Collection Figure would be a huge win.

Galvatron has a lot of unique parts not seen on many other figures. Most of the 2 1/4-inch-ish robot is shared with other toys, but the head, upper torso, shins, and upper arms are pretty unique. The right arm has a peg to plug in his orange cannon, which you can pose thanks to the way they designed the shoulder armor. He's even got that pylon on his back. The sculpting is very nice, but not perfect. Blokees took some odd liberties, painting white lines instead of doing some sculpting in a few parts. I assume there are limitations on how shallow a panel can be on a toy of this size, but it does look a little weird to have bright white lines on his chest, shoulders, and legs. It by no means ruins the toy, it's just a head-scratcher.

The helmet slides over a red eye part, and everything else pieces together fairly easily. It's hard to not be impressed by the range of movement at the size, or how many parts are reused on virtually every figure. The fists, forearms, and thighs are pretty much identical on every figure and somehow it always works. LEGO does this too, but with LEGO that's sort of the point. Here, they give you something quite a bit more detailed at a pretty reasonable price.

I generally find something to not like about Galvatron toys - in this case, no painted teeth and the added white lines. But the figure's vibes are good, the important parts are all there, and the range of movement is good. You have no real reason to be upset about pulling the "normal" version out of a case, and I appreciate how neither of the chase versions are so good or are so different that you'd be cranky you didn't get them. I'm also now worried about which flavor of Jetfire I'll get, since the SG-Jetfire might be one I have to chase down.
