"Who killed Laura Palmer?" was the central mystery of Twin Peaks, and since new episodes are airing now you know it was technically Bob, a spirit who took control of her father Leland Palmer. He was a pretty amazing character - stuck in the past, sort of a throwback to what it meant to be a proud American father and businessman of the 1950s, and also a deeply broken man. Phil Hartman's portrayal of him on SNL was right on the mark, with Ray Wise's ticks being heightened only just barely. His was a recognizable performance, and in the second season we saw him transform physically with shock-white hair. He'd also don murder gloves, for murdering, during season two.

This 3 3/4-inch-ish scale figure has a jointed head and an acceptable - but not perfect - paint job. There's some rub on the top of the head on my sample, but the colors are generally consistent and clean. Who else has strangle gloves?

The body of this figure is interesting, and by interesting I mean my sample isn't great - you can see where the upper and lower body are glued together as two separate pieces, and some visible dried adhesive leaked out. It's not immediately obvious unless you squint, and you'd never notice if you left him in the box. This is a shame because the suit itself is quite sharp - painted buttons, deep grooves to make the seams really pop, and shiny black shoes. He even has white eyes to indicate that he's possessed, which is awesome - but they denied us a not-possessed variant, which is depressing. Maybe we'll see one at a convention or as an exclusive.

Leland Palmer is an amazing character on the show. He seems like a square old man, daddio, but there's a horrible secret within. You know, the whole David Lynch thing. Funko did a good job capturing a specific scene from the series with all of the malice, minus the creepy Ray Wise grin we all love. It's kind of a shame that the fact that this figure exists more or less raises a bunch of questions about the original series if you haven't already finished seeing it, but it's been 25 years. Secrets don't last, and I assume neither will the production run on these figures because I have to assume stuff will evaporate after the new show ends. Get him if you dare!
