Soccer is one of the biggest sports in the world. Outside the USA it's Football, but here in America we just don't care and we'll call it what we damn well please. This France Fan is an interesting choice because presumably any nation with which you create a fan is going to politically loaded. America doesn't care. England's going through some growing pains. Germany, well. France? I think people mostly still like France - it's the country that gave us such 100% French creations as Inspector Clouseau, Jean-Luc Picard, Les Savy Fav, and French Fries.
A mix of new and old parts, the figure delivers the goods - this is prime "sitting in the cheap seats" fodder for a soccer match or Carmen. This fan has cargo pants, a striped Footballer shirt, blue white and red face paint, and a hot dog. Oh, and a flag. Can't be a fan without a flag. That's, like, the first thing you need to prove your fandom of anything. You see it all the time at Jerry Lewis Film Festivals.
Assembling the figure is pretty easy, as everything snaps into place once you line up and squeeze all the bits together. Identifying this figure in the bag was challenging - I didn't know what it was until it was open as, surprisingly, the hair did not come up for a good fondling in the foil pouch. None of the accessories feel terribly specific otherwise, as the hot dog as difficult to locate and apparently I'm just a putz for finding the flag. The two heads really threw me - I guess I could have assumed it might be a hat or a soccer ball, but nope.
The gear is as good as you've come to expect, although you may not necessarily need them. A flag from France is pretty nice to have, and it drives home the point that this isn't someone who designed their American shirt backward. The hair sits on the head nicely, and the hot dog is a bit of a marvel. You'll find it in other sets as well, but if you haven't you should know that it's removable from the bun, the bun has a grip on it, and the diameter of the sausage part is precisely the right size to be gripped by a Playmobil figure hand. I don't think you could ask for much more than that, other than perhaps some suds for the unruly crowds.
