I shot this Skater last year and neglected to review it. Well, time to fix that! It's just some guy. Presumably a young kid with a bad teenage mustache, but it could also be an adult with a bad teenage mustache. The shirt looks like something you'd pick up at Target or Kohl's (or their German equivalent), with a perfectly nice beanie hat and a skateboard that doesn't look like anything too specific as to avoid licensing fees.

The figure itself is just a guy - the retro yellow bowl cut triangle hair still looks great after a whopping 47 years ago, with a retro-ish bit of facial hair. The short-sleeved shirt mold is nothing new, but the light blue plaid shirt is pretty nice. Unfortunately, the back is unpainted - like on a lot of figures. (Curiously there is a plaid shirt with a painted back, why, I don't know.) Everything matches up pretty well when you put the arms on the bod, which is impressive for a shirt with a specific pattern on it. The shoes looks like nondescript skater shoes, despite being a mold reused a million times.

I am fond of the worn jeans detail. Fashionable damage is good business with bluejeans, so not only do you get a swell wallet chain and painted-on pockets, but you can see turned-up painted cuffs at the bottom as well as well-rubbed fronts to his pant legs. Why? I can't say. But it certainly gives the figure an air of distinction in a world of people with non-damaged pants, wouldn't you say?

Accessories are, arguably, nothing new. You get an orange hat that fits perfectly, and a silver watch that clips to his h and. The skateboard molds have been used in lots of sets, and the feet clamp right on to it. There's nothing particularly funny or special about it - not a fake manga girl painted on it, or grip tape or anything - so it's just a perfectly usable accessory. I doubt this is something you're going to want to chase down.

This random mystery bag pull isn't a bad get, but I'd be lying if I said it was exciting. It's amusing. It's great to go into crowds or grandstands or anywhere you just need a guy standing around to fill a seat, but it's not the kind of figure that inspires you to start a collection. (And I believe it was the first pull I got from the series.) I'd recommend it if you like what you see, but my justification for picking up Playmobil generally comes from a sense of whimsy, which this generally does not have.
