When I first saw Rattlor I thought "Oh crud, I thought I was going to sit this line out now but I can't pass on a guy vomiting himself up." This is easily one of the best concepts in the line, with amazingly good detail, the gimmicks you'd expect, and just the right colors. But I found there to be challenges getting his wrist armor to stay on, and getting those neck bits to stay on was tough - and the head popped off when I was taking him out of the package, which is a bad first impression. It's still gorgeous.

This guy is weird, with colors that look like he came out of the neon-infused late-1980s. It just so happens that era also had a trendy period of gross-out toys, like Madballs, so he fits right in.

The figure is mostly Rattlor's parts from his previous release, with the mutated hands we got from the likes of Mer-Man, Moss Man, and the Demogorgon last year. It's good, because it makes the figure look fresher. It's bad, because the articulation on this kind of foot doesn't seem quite as good for keeping the figure upright. You might want to get a stand for this guy.

The colors are really awesome. If lit right, the clear, dark blue limbs look utterly amazing. The body's opaque with very good sculpting and paint, with some added "armor" featuring fangs, a giant eye, and clip-on bits with spikes. Most exciting, though, is that the classic Rattlor head exists as a neck decoration, vomiting up a clear, bright pink skull! ...and as I typed that he fell over again. At least he looks really cool with those painted scales on his arms.

It's a really stunning figure, but you could also say it's overkill - and undercooked - because he has no handheld accessories, and lacks the spring-forward neck of the original figure. Putting the budget into new armor and that doubled neck piece really do a lot to make this look like a wildly different figure from a different era, and that's worth something. It's bright, it's bony, it's gross, it's got it all. It's almost like a designer toy at basic retail prices.

Given that the parts are hard to keep together, and it's already a little sticky fresh out of the box, I admit I'm a little paranoid as to the longevity of this figure. For kids figures, you expect things to be bashed up and break down as paint rubs off and the poor fellows get smacked up in the toy box. For adult figures, you rally want to keep these things nice - and this one seems to exist in between worlds. I think kids will love the crazy design, and adults will appreciate the striking colors, bony detail, and clear plastic mingling with the original 1980s toy. And everybody loves a snake barfing itself up. I'd recommend it just because it's such a wild idea - I can't come up with anything cooler than this, and it really stands out (and stands tall) on a shelf. Provided it doesn't fall over. Get this one if the opportunity comes up.
