Funko Bobble Heads, Vinyl, and Figures February 13, 2012
Funko! While the company has been around for a while, Funko may be quietly one of the best collectible toy and figure companies out there. They're not super-flashy, they don't do a lot of press, but they make top-notch stuff at low prices with fantastic licenses. They also hold the mega-popular Pop! Vinyl line of figures and bobble heads, which will now expand to include apparel like T-Shirts. Their license portfolio is exploding, and numerous new licenses appeared in their catalog which weren't even on display like Muppets, the very appropriate Sanrio, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Anchorman, Big Bang Theory, Edward Scissorhands, Grease, Rango, and Ferris Bueller. And that's just for Pop! Oh, and there's NBA, Beatles, Sex Pistols, and a bunch of others. It's insane how much they've got on deck.
New Mini Blox are on deck, shrinking down the flat, carved figures into something that fits in the palm of your hand. (See below for my hand.) These should be pretty sharp, and would make good desk figures. Mini Pop! are also on deck but Hello Kitty KISS may be the most bizarrely interesting licensing merger you could ever hope to see.
If you only watch one company like a hawk this year, make it Funko. They're getting into more stores and their offerings are growing rapidly, and pretty much everything is awesome.
