For the shorties! Hasbro's Playskool division has been, by and large, quite successful. They make a lot of toys for kids before they're old enough to ask for them, which are the ages parents are most inclined to spoil their kids. Now, we're seeing growth into characters beyond Dressy Bessy and Dapper Dan (RIP) and Mr. Potato Head, who has been given a massive redesign this year with separate feet and new takes on licenses like Spider-Spud and Darth Tater. It makes a lot of sense to refresh these.
In what Hasbro has called the "Pre-Kool" category are new Spider-Man playsets based on the upcoming movie, because Spidey is a brand that has somehow become extremely popular with young kids. As such, there are new playsets associated with the new Amazing Spider-Man film, plus a small line extension for Star Wars and Transformers. More figures are coming across the board, but the line is so small that a collector could easily mistake it for a dud. (It isn't-- kids don't buy toys at the clip adults do.) The Rescue Bots Mobile Headquarters is one of the most impressive large pieces, and the Naboo Fighter looks like a lot of fun, too. Of note is Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, which has a grip on the back and a button which activates a spinning mechanism for kid-based dogfights. Unfortunately, there are no companion Rebel fighters yet to fight Darth Vader, nor were any shown or alluded to.
