You Sank My Battleship! Hasbro has been going on and on (and if you attend their other presentations, on and on some more) about how they're no longer a toy company, but some fancy-pants entertainment firm. I like toys. Don't belittle what I love. Anyway, Hasbro is doing Battleship as a movie, and there will be games and Kre-O construction toys, which are like LEGO but not. (There are more of those on a separate page in our coverage.) The sets are mostly naval-themed American military craft fighting aliens, just like the board game didn't have. From what I've seen of the movie, it's neat, but it doesn't seem nearly as cool as the new G.I. Joe flick. Which is off-the-charts distilled awesome.
There were two places for Battleship in the Hasbro Toy Fair gallery, one of which was this one-- take a look at the quasi-submarine decor, I dig it. They did nice work. Sadly, no action figures were made. I find this confusing as Hasbro's love affair with reusing tooling would make this seem like a shoo-in to reuse G.I. Joe parts and pieces-- or tool some new ones to share with future Joe releases. But I digress-- enjoy Battleship!
