While characters in this movie have some lavish costumes, fancy jackets, and unique battle-damage, only Leeloo (Straps Costume) gets plastic twice. A regular version came out at the same time, but when your lead actress shows up, is killed, is rebuilt naked, and goes on a crazy chase in the sky it generally warrants another toy. She's pretty good.
Leeloo benefits greatly from the format and the costume. Not exaggerating certain features helps. Molding her in flesh with painted straps and hair helps. It's fairly convincing as a 1980s figure, although the skin color could be tweaked a bit. Her face is painted clearly and centered perfectly, with nice bright orangey red hair.
Her hands can easily hold the included silver pistol, but not the stone - the fifth stone, if you're paying attention. She has no difficulty standing or sitting, but it's worth noting that she has a bit of a v-crotch. This was seemingly done to keep her underpants intact on the back, if you're the kind of person who looks at that sort of thing.
Because of the figure's simplicity there's not much to say other than "hey, they did her right!" To do this costume in this format, less is more - and they didn't go nuts. Obviously some of you will be angry she's not 6-inches or super-articulated, but after 18 years of no toys any figures are a step in the right direction. The skin is appropriately free of wrinkles or creases, while the costume is packed with small signs of movement and even some stitching. It's subtle - as naked women figures in straps go, anyway - os go ahead and get this one if it was on your wish list. Heck, get the whole damn line. You're worth it, and so are they.
